The digital asset landscape is seeing some conflicting signals for XRP as its derivatives market undergoes a significant correction. Data from Binance reveals that open interest has plummeted by 28 percent since late September, following a broader downward trend where the market saw losses exceeding 25 percent over the last quarter. This sharp decline suggests a period of deleveraging among traders who may have been squeezed out of their positions during recent volatility.
Despite the cooling off in short term trading activity, analysts at Cryptoquant suggest that this flush out could actually pave the way for a healthier recovery. In many crypto cycles, a dramatic drop in open interest removes excessive speculation and resets the market floor, often acting as a precursor to a renewed upward swing once stability returns.
Adding weight to the bullish outlook is fresh data from Santiment regarding long term holders. Large scale wallets, commonly known as whales, currently control roughly 46.87 billion XRP tokens. This represents nearly 69 percent of the total supply tracked by the platform, indicating that institutional investors and high net worth individuals are continuing to accumulate assets even while retail traders retreat from the futures market.
