A luggage brand that disappeared from the market after a bankruptcy is preparing to return, giving a familiar name in the travel industry a second chance.

The relaunch comes as the luggage market continues to benefit from renewed travel demand and growing interest in premium products, while established brands look for opportunities to expand their reach.

Founded in 2016, Paravel is an American sustainable travel brand known for its luxury luggage, bags, and travel accessories.

Antler brings back Paravel in major relaunch after shutdown

British luggage brand Antler, owned by ATR Group, is relaunching Paravel after the brand shut down following its Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing in 2025.

The relaunch will initially focus on a selection of Paravel’s best-known products, including:

  • A new edition of the Aviator suitcase collection in four sizes and colorways
  • The Signature Canvas Tote in two colors
  • Packing Cubes
  • A Luggage Tag

The new products will retail between £30 ($45) and £465 ($595).

Paravel will continue to use recycled materials in its products, with recycled content ranging from 70% to 100%, depending on the item. However, the company will no longer market its shipping as carbon neutral.

ATR CEO Kirsty Glenne said Paravel built a loyal following around its design, quality, and sustainable materials.

“Refining what made Paravel special, and bringing back the pieces our customers loved, made to a standard built to last,” said Glenne, Fashion Network reported.

“With ATR Group’s infrastructure behind us, we’ve been able to make those improvements meaningful as Paravel re-enters the market.”

Consumers will be able to purchase the new Paravel collection beginning October 8, 2026, through Paravel’s website. The brand will initially sell directly to consumers online and is not currently available through wholesale channels.

Paravel filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and shut down immediately afterward

Paravel filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on May 19, 2025, in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The filing reported $1 million to $10 million in assets and between $10 million and $100 million in liabilities.

The bankruptcy filing was followed by the immediate shutdown of Paravel’s website and the liquidation of its assets, leaving some customers with unfulfilled orders.

The company’s bankruptcy came after a period of financial struggles. Factors cited in reporting about the company’s business included the challenges of its direct-to-consumer model, high customer acquisition and social media marketing costs, supply chain complexity, the costs associated with sustainable manufacturing, and tariff volatility.

Antler later acquired Paravel’s intellectual property and assets through a liquidation auction in August 2025, according to a company announcement.

The acquisition added Paravel to ATR Group’s portfolio and brought the brand under new ownership.

What the relaunch means for Paravel’s future

Paravel is not the first luggage brand in ATR Group’s portfolio to undergo a significant transformation.

Antler itself went through a major relaunch in May 2023 under new ownership, following its filing for administration in the UK in May 2020.

The brand has since reported several years of growth. During fiscal 2026, Antler reported a 17% year-over-year increase in revenue to $98.2 million, marking its fourth consecutive year of double-digit growth.

Antler’s global digital sales increased 14%, while wholesale grew by 20%.

The company has also set a long-term target of reaching £100 million ($133.8 million) in revenue by fiscal 2029.

The Paravel relaunch gives ATR Group another luggage brand to develop as it expands its portfolio.

Here’s some of my previous coverage of brand relaunches:

  • Lord & Taylor: Brought back its private label business with the launch of the Heritage Collection after nearly six years.
  • Aéropostale: Partnered with Von Dutch for the first time to release a limited-time collection.
  • Aritzia: Plans to bring back the Fred Segal brand by restoring the Melrose flagship.

The relaunch comes as the broader luggage market is projected to grow. Grand View Research valued the global luggage market at $43.1 billion in 2025 and estimates that it will increase from $45.8 billion in 2026 to $82.0 billion by 2033, representing a CAGR of 8.7% from 2026 to 2033.

According to Grand View Research, market growth is being supported by factors such as rising disposable incomes, urbanization, greater brand awareness, and a resurgence in domestic and international travel.

The research firm also points to the growing importance of branded luggage, product innovation, premiumization, and e-commerce in the market.

Grand View Research added that luggage is also viewed as a status symbol, citing evolving social trends as another factor affecting the category.

For Paravel, the October relaunch marks its return to the market after more than a year away, now under ATR Group ownership.
